Letter from Hattie Llewelyn-Davis, NCSL Chair of the Board

Dear applicant,

I would like to thank you for your interest in joining us here at Norwich City Services. I hope that through the course of your recruitment journey, you will be inspired by NCSL's determination to achieve our vision of being an employer of choice where everyone is fully engaged, motivated and empowered; working together to drive the success of the company through continuous improvement and innovation.

Since NCSL's inception in 2021, we have focused on delivering excellent Environmental and Building Maintenance services to the people of Norwich, always putting the customer first.

We take immense pride in being at the heart of Norwich's key operational services, with Norwich City Council as our shareholder. This close relationship with our local authority not only reflects our commitment to serving the people of Norwich but also reinforces our dedication to delivering high-quality, community-focused services. We operate with a clear purpose: to enhance the lives of residents, protect our environment, and ensure that every service we provide adds value to the city we all call home.

Our new business plan was approved this year and NCSL's ambitions and goals are supported by the council, with year one focussing on service and process improvements with investment being made in systems and processes. Year two focussed on embedding changes and developing our workforce capacity and year three developed plans to drive growth which improves efficiency and value for money.

One priority as we move forward is implementing an NCSL Academy; a key initiative aimed at building on the strengths of our current workforce while providing new opportunities for growth and development. The Academy will serve as a foundation for upskilling our employees, ensuring they have access to the training and resources needed to excel in their roles.

In addition to the Academy, we will complete our programme of bringing Support Services in-house, which are currently provided by Norwich City Council. This transition will enhance our operational efficiency, streamline processes, and enable greater control over the services we provide. By integrating these essential functions into NCSL, we are building a more self-sufficient and cohesive organisation.

As NCSL flourishes, expanding our commercial activities will allow us to diversify our revenue streams, enhance our service offerings, and strengthen our financial sustainability.

We are proud of how far we have come, but our journey is far from over. As we look to the future, we remain focused on sustainable growth, delivering exceptional services, and building strong relationships with our partners and customers.

Together, we can continue to build a company that thrives on innovation, respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. We have something truly special here at NCSL, and with your skills and dedication, we will make a meaningful difference for our community and our environment.

Good luck with your application.

Hattie Llewelyn-Davis
